Our afternoon walks in Townsville sometimes include Cleveland Terrace on Melton Hill. A few days ago after a cool change I was surprised by the clarity of the view so I produced my trusty Canon S95 from my short’s pocket and climbed out onto a rock. I love that the Canon fits in my pocket and the amount of times I have dropped it and it has remained undamaged (fingers crossed) is astounding. As I jumped down from the rock to the pavement after taking these photos it bounced out onto the bitumen yet again.
The Cluster of buildings in the foreground are:
Along the front of the Strand (red brick), St. Patrick’s Catholic Girls Boarding School 1883, The Cream Church facing is St. Josephs and the low cream buildings form St. Josephs Catholic Primary School. In the background is Magnetic Island. The tall building at the back left of the photograph is Aquarius Hotel, which at 15 Storeys was built in 1971 before Council imposed height restrictions.
The restriction has only this year been replaced by a five storey high restriction.
Cleveland Terrace is my dream home location – one with a view of course.
Some black cockatoos found the perfect sunset vantage point on a Strand just as the street lights came on.
As the sun set in the West the clouds in the east along the Strand turned a pretty pink.
Just as my battery pack died, the pinks deepened and the sky in the west turned brilliant orange. Bugger!
My battery is recharged and I am hoping for a similar sunset tonight.
